It's been a rough start to the year for Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who missed time with a shoulder problem and came into Saturday's action hitting just .203/.320/.250. He's getting very little to hit because the rest of the team's lineup stinks, but it was only matter of time before a pitcher threw him a mistake out over the plate. That mistake finally came:
It might be Stanton's first homer of the season, but it should probably count for two. I mean, c'mon. Over the scoreboard? The official measurement was 472-feet, making it the second longest homer of the 2013 season according to ESPN Home Run Tracker.
Oh, and in case you think Stanton's power output is lagging: He didn't hit his first homer until April 29 last year. He finished the year with 37. There are a long more scoreboard shots coming, folks.
