The Angels and Athletics played the longest game of the season on Monday, a 19-inning marathon that featured a pair of relievers (Jerome Williams and Brett Anderson) throwing more combined innings that the two starters (Tommy Hanson and Dan Straily) and three injured center fielders.
Brandon Moss won the game with a two-run walk-off homer off Barry Enright, and apparently his teammates were too exhausted to give him the ceremonial "pie to the face" during his post-game interview. Moss did the honors himself:
Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands, but the important thing is that the pie was indeed delivered. It wouldn't have been a proper walk-off win without it.
