“It doesn't look like Chris Davis will go to the DL,” said Duquette “[The Angels] doctors looked at the MRI and our doctors are going to be able to read the MRI on Monday, and the info I have is that Chris is feeling better than last night.”
Davis, the AL Player of the Month for April, originally hurt the knee while running out a ground ball in the fifth inning on Friday. He walked gingerly back to the dugout and needed to be helped down the stairs.
“My knee kind of buckled,” said Davis. “Felt a tingling in my foot, thought I could walk it off ... I think it's just something that when I hit the bag I kind of veered to the right a little bit. Lesson learned, go right through the bag. It sounds so elementary now. But, like I said, hopefully it will just be a few days.”
Davis, 27, is hitting .330/.431/.690 with an AL-leading nine home runs through 30 games this season. He broke out by hitting a career-high 33 homers last season, his first full year in Baltimore after being acquired from the Rangers for Koji Uehara at the 2011 trade deadline.
The Orioles are in Anaheim playing the Angels this weekend. Davis was not in Saturday's lineup and since the team is off Monday, it's safe to assume he'll get Sunday off as well. The team officially says he's day-to-day.
