Following another horribly uncharacteristic start for Roy Halladay, the Phillies right-hander will likely go on the disabled list with shoulder soreness, reports Michael McGarry of the Press of Atlantic City. Halladay will then visit famed specialist Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles for further evaluation and testing.

As Kevin Cooney noted on Twitter, Halladay admitted to feeling discomfort following his April 24 start against the Pirates. The Phillies, however, say Halladay never told them about it.

John Gonzalez of CSN Philadelphia tweets that, according to Phillies GM Ruben Amaro, Halladay's current shoulder problems are unrelated to the lat/shoulder issues that afflicted him last season.

It's been suspected for some time that Halladay wasn't right, but after Sunday's blow-up, in which the Giancarlo Stanton-less Marlins abused him for nine runs over 2 1/3 innings, Halladay could no longer delay the inevitable. The 35-year-old two-time Cy Young winner now has an 8.65 ERA for the season.

Worth noting is that Halladay's current contract includes a vesting option for 2014 that depends on innings totals and health at season's end.
