Phillies starting pitcher Roy Halladay has been placed on the disabled list, the club announced Monday afternoon.

Halladay has been dealing with shoulder soreness and reports indicate he'll head to Los Angeles to see famed specialist Dr. Lewis Yocum for consultation. General manager Ruben Amaro has, however, told reporters Halladay's issues are not related to the shoulder injury that took its toll on him last season.

Halladay turns 36 next week and went 11-8 with a 4.49 ERA last season after finishing in the top five of Cy Young voting for six consecutive seasons. In seven starts this season, Halladay is 2-4 with an 8.65 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 34 1/3 innings.

Halladay joins John Lannan on the DL, so the Phillies are looking for another rotation replacement to slot behind Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee, Kyle Kendrick and Jonathan Pettibone -- who replaced Lannan.
