On the injury front, Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts remains blighted. This time he's facing surgery on his injured hamstring, and as a result he'll be sidelined an additional six weeks on top of his original timetable, reports the AP. Roberts, who played in just three games this season before injuring his right hamstring, will undergo the procedure on Thursday in Dallas.

The 35-year-old Oriole lifer and two-time All-Star has played in just 118 games since the start of the 2010 season. Most notably, Roberts was sidelined for much of the 2011 and 2012 seasons by post-concussion symptoms followed by hip surgery. For his career, Roberts owns a batting line of .280/.351/.413 to go with 276 stolen bases.

In Roberts's absence, the Orioles have primarily manned second with a Ryan Flaherty-Alexi Casilla platoon. However, Baltimore second basemen this season have combined to hit just .178/.236/.254.
