The Brewers have called up right-hander Francisco Rodriguez, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. The veteran reliever could have opted out of his minor-league contract if he wasn't added to the roster on Wednesday.

Rodriguez, 31, threw four scoreless inning with seven strikeouts in four minor-league appearances in recent weeks. He signed the minor-league deal last month. K-Rod spent last season with the Brewers, pitching to a 4.38 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 72 innings.

After a rough start to the season, Milwaukee's bullpen owns a strong 3.16 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over the last 30 days. Jim Henderson replaced John Axford as closer, though it'll take some work for Rodriguez to pitch his way back into the ninth inning.
