Left-handed reliever Sean Marshall has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Tuesday, with a sprained left shoulder, the Reds announced Friday. As a corresponding move, lefty Manny Parra has been activated from his DL stint.

This marks the second stint on the disabled list for Marshall. Both trips to the disabled list have been related to his throwing shoulder (left-shoulder tendinitis was the reason given for his time April 10-25).

When he has been healthy this season, Marshall has been his usual effective self. He has a 2.57 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and seven strikeouts in seven innings while stranding nine of the 11 runners that he has inherited.

Parra, 30, takes Marshall's spot as the only left-handed reliever in front of lefty closer Aroldis Chapman in the bullpen. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 2.70 WHIP in 6 2/3 innings this season.
