During Thursday night's game between the Royals and Angels in Kansas City's Kauffman Stadium, a 14-year-old girl collapsed in the upper deck and was resuscitated by a Royals employee, according to multiple reports, including the Associated Press.
Sam Sapenaro, a 26-year-old nurse who is a member of the "K-Crew" as her second job, was fortunately nearby when the girl collapsed and was able to perform CPR and resuscitate the girl.
According to multiple reports, the girl is in the hospital and is expected to survive. More details aren't known due to the family's wish to remain private in addition to privacy laws for minors.
Sapenaro has, not surprisingly, been showered with praise in the aftermath.
"It's hard for me to accept that compliment just because I am a nurse and I feel that's what I'm supposed to do," Sapenaro said to the Associated Press. "The outpouring of love has been incredible from the Royals organization and the Royals fans."
And below is her Twitter response:
Thank you SO INCREDIBLY much for all your love tonight. I'm blessed to be surrounded by the best fans & coworkers in the world! #KCrewLove— SassyRNbarbie (@sassyRNbarbie) May 24, 2013
