Brewers closer Jim Henderson needed to leave Friday night's victory over the Pirates with two outs in the ninth due to a hamstring injury. On Saturday, manager Ron Roenicke didn't sound too bullish on the prospects of Henderson avoiding a DL stint.

"It's going to be a while," Roenicke told reporters (AP).

Henderson met with a doctor on Saturday afternoon, and the Brewers began play against the Pirates without having made an official roster move, but it sounds like a mere formality that he's DL bound.

With Henderson on the shelf, Roenicke wouldn't commit to one closer in particular, and instead it sounds like he'll go with a committee approach. Francisco Rodriguez closed down the save on Friday and has closed in the past, so he'll certainly be part of the mix. It's possible former closer John Axford will join the fray as well.

Henderson, 30, has been dominant this season. He hasn't blown a save in his nine chances while sporting a 0.92 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings.
