With Ryan Vogelsong hitting the disabled list with a broken hand, the Giants need a starter to take his spot in the rotation. And that man will be Michael Kickham, the club announced.

Kickham is a 24-year-old lefty who was drafted in the sixth round in 2010 out of Missouri State University. He's 3-4 with a 4.33 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 54 strikeouts in 54 innings for Triple-A Fresno.

Kickham's start on Tuesday against the Athletics will mark his major-league debut. His counterpart for the game will be Jarrod Parker, who is 2-6 with a 5.76 ERA this season.
