Dodgers right-hander Josh Beckett was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 15. The Dodgers announced the official reason for his DL stint was a left groin strain, but there are evidently different issues, specifically one that sounds like nerve issue.

Beckett has been shut down from his throwing program and is scheduled to have an MRI because he's "still feeling numbness and tingling" in the fingers of his throwing hand, according to manager Don Mattingly (via Bill Plunkett of the OC Register).

Beckett, 33, has struggled this season. He's 0-5 with a 5.19 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Since an outstanding outing at Arizona on April 14 -- where he took the loss when he allowed his only earned run in the bottom of the ninth inning -- Beckett failed to throw a pitch in the seventh inning, averaging just 4 2/3 innings per start with a 6.75 ERA. He is making $15.75 million this season and next before hitting free agency.

With Beckett on the DL, the Dodgers will continue to have a starting rotation of Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Hyun-jin Ryu, Chris Capuano and Ted Lilly.
