It's no secret Garrett Jones of the Pirates has some big power. He's hit plenty of tape-measure home runs before, and he will hit a bunch more in the future. On Sunday, he became only the second player ever to hit a ball into the Allegheny River outside PNC Park on the fly:

The official measurement on that shot was 463 feet, making it "only" the 10th-longest home run hit this season according to Hit Tracker Online. It wasn't inconsequental, either. That two-run blast tied the game against the division-rival Reds at four in the bottom of the eighth.

The only other player to visit the Allegheny (on the fly) was Daryle Ward of the Houston Astros back in July 2002. Pittsburgh hurler Kip Wells served up that homer, which was a grand slam.
