On Monday, the Dodgers placed outfielder Carl Crawford on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain. The move is retroactive to June 2. According to J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News, manager Don Mattingly expects Crawford to miss "a couple of weeks."

Crawford is batting a productive .301/.358/.470 this season with five homers and nine stolen bases. He becomes the eighth Dodger presently on the disabled list. He'll join core contributors Matt Kemp, Hanley Ramirez, Josh Beckett, A.J. Ellis and Chad Billingsley. The Dodgers have recalled right-hander Stephen Fife to take Crawford's spot on the active roster.

Over the weekend, the Dodgers called up ballyhooed Cuban rookie Yasel Puig, whose path is now clear for regular playing time in the outfield.
