An investigation is being conducted into a narcotics delivery to the home of Indians closer Chris Perez. Rocky River police in Ohio are working with a regional narcotics unit and postal inspectors on the investigation. No charges have been filed and police say "the matter at this time is still under investigation."
"Earlier this morning we were made aware of a situation involving Chris Perez that occurred yesterday in Rocky River," said GM Chris Antonetti in a statement on Wednesday. “We have talked with Chris and are currently in the process of gathering additional information."
Manager Terry Francona told reporters he "can't say anything. I've talked to [Perez]. We are still looking into getting more information." Both the team and Francona said they will not comment further until they have more information.
Perez, 27, is currently on the DL with shoulder tendinitis.
