Here's an example:
I don't go for hyperbole on catches ("The best catch you'll ever see!"), but that's an incredibly difficult play to make. Catching any ball while diving is tough, just as is catching any ball while running almost straight backward. Buxton did both there on the warning track.
Not that Buxton is all defense. The 19-year-old is now hitting .350/.444/.578 with 14 doubles, eight triples, seven homers, 47 RBI, 60 runs and 26 stolen bases in 58 games for Class-A Cedar Rapids.
Remember, a scout told my colleague Jon Heyman recently that Buxton is "the best player I ever saw," went on to say he's a better athlete than Alex Rodriguez -- and compared Buxton to a healthy Matt Kemp.
So while the Twins suffer through a mediocre 2013 season, at least their fans have something -- or rather, someone -- to look forward to.
