Benches clear in Red Sox-Rays game after Lackey plunks Joyce

After being spotted with a six-run lead in the first inning Monday night, Red Sox pitcher John Lackey allowed a homer to Matt Joyce to lead off the Rays' first.

And in the sixth inning, Lackey hit Joyce with a pitch. Was it intentional? Joyce and his 'mates seemed to think so, because Joyce was visibly angry and benches cleared, resulting in a brief fracas. Here's the video:

As for Monday night, there were no ejections and when a pitch sailed over Dustin Pedroia's head next inning, nothing happened. So consider the issue closed.
