More bad news for the troubled Blue Jays rotation: Right-hander Brandon Morrow, who's been sidelined since May 28 with forearm discomfort, will be out longer than initially anticipated. Gregor Chisholm and Teddy Cahill of MLB.com report that Morrow is at least two to three weeks from returning to the active roster.
As Chisholm and Cahill note, Morrow will throw a bullpen session on Tuesday and then, barring setback, begin a minor-league rehab assignment that will span two or three starts, again barring setback.
This season, Morrow has pitched to a 5.63 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 2.33 K/BB ratio in 10 starts. In 2012, Morrow logged an impressive ERA+ of 143, but he managed just 124 2/3 innings, thanks largely to an oblique strain that shelved him for roughly two and a half months. While Morrow has always had tantilizing stuff, only once has he pitched a qualifying number of innings in a season.
