The baseball bat has gone through a number of changes over the years, but the basic design has remained intact for more than a century. Is it time for that to change? Maybe so. Check out this Kickstarter pitch for an "ergonomically correct" baseball bat.
Whatever the opposite of a scientist who's all science-y and stuff is, that's what I am. However, the particulars of this make intuitive sense. I'm sure we're a long way from seeing these bats used in a sanctioned manner in the bigs (MLB is not exactly an "early adopter" of anything, really), but they certainly merit further exploration.
I would recommend tracking down Jeromy Burnitz for beta-testing, as over the course of his career he accidentally flung exactly 10,000 bats into the seats (note: possibly not true).
