Robinson Cano will not be picking Billy Butler for Home Run Derby

In 2012, you'll recall that the Yankees' Robinson Cano, captain of the AL Home Run Derby squad, miffed the fans in Kansas City by not naming Billy Butler of the Royals as one of his chosen mashers. You'll also recall the fans in KC, after roundly booing Cano at the outset of the derby, took vocal pleasure in his elimination from same ...

Cano is again serving as AL Derby captain this year, and the question was posed: Will you name Butler to the 2013 team? Cano's response to's Scott Miller and other reporters was about as terse as possible:

"No chance."

Noted. Of course, Cano absolutely should not name Butler, as Mr. Butler, otherwise productive though he may be, has but five home runs on the season. Suffice it to say, the crowd at Citi Field won't be as outraged as the fans at Kauffman Stadium were last year.
