Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez left Thursday afternoon's game with a left foot contusion after being hit by a foul ball off the bat of Jordan Pacheco while standing in the on-deck circle. X-rays were negative. There weren't any great replays of the play, but here's what happened:

CarGo was on the ground in obvious pain for a minute or two before getting up and testing it by taking a few steps. That didn't go over well, so he headed to the clubhouse and was removed from the game in the first inning.

Gonzalez, 27, has also been nursing a sore left knee in recent days. He came into the afternoon hitting .299/.375/.618 with 18 home runs and 12 stolen bases. Obviously today's injury was a fluke.
