Cubs center fielder David DeJesus will be placed on the disabled list due to a right shoulder injury, reports CSNChicago.com.

DeJesus suffered the injury Friday night in a 6-3 win over the Mets when he crashed into the Citi Field wall on a Juan Lagares triple in the third inning. MLB.com has video, which shows DeJesus was in some serious pain.

“Right before I got to the warning track, I looked back at the wall, saw I had some room and gave it a couple hard extra steps,” DeJesus said (CSNChicago.com). “I couldn't stop. It felt like I ran into the wall and my shoulder just went the other way.”

The Cubs will wait until swelling goes down before getting DeJesus an MRI sometime next week and he's expected to miss "only a few weeks."

In DeJesus' stead, the Cubs plan on going mostly with Ryan Sweeney in center.

DeJesus, 33, is hitting .260/.318/.445 with 15 doubles, six homers, 21 RBI and 32 runs this season.
