An MRI showed no new tear and only inflammation in Mark Teixeira's right wrist, Yankees manager Joe Girardi announced on Sunday. The first baseman received a cortisone shot and will be reevaluated in a few days.

Teixeira, 33, left Saturday's start after reaggravating his wrist injury. He suffered tendon-sheath damage back in early March and did not return to the team until late last month. The Yankees opted against season-ending surgery and instead took a conservative rehab approach.

In 15 games since coming off the DL, Teixeira has gone 8-for-53 (.151) with three home runs. He has been unable to do his usual pregame hitting routine due to lingering discomfort, hitting coach Kevin Long confirmed Saturday.

In addition to Teixeira, the Yankees are also without Derek Jeter (ankle), Alex Rodriguez (hip), Curtis Granderson (hand), Eduardo Nunez (rib cage) and Francisco Cervelli (hand).
