This is pretty awesome. Via Reddit baseball, here's some moving picture footage of the 1939 World Series between the Yankees and Reds, in color.

What's cool for me is that it's a stadium that I recognize. Being that I'm 34, there aren't many stadiums from 1939 that I'd recognize, but old Yankee Stadium is definitely one of them. While there are differences, the upper deck creeping into fair territory in both right and left field easily connects me to some famous postseason homers in that very venue. I'm sure I'm not alone.

As for that particular World Series, the Yankees swept the Reds in four games after a 106-45 regular-season record -- led by an MVP season from a 24-year-old Joe DiMaggio. That definitely put them in the discussion for one of baseball's greatest teams.
