Assuming there are no setbacks between now and then, Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper is scheduled to work out with the team Monday and then begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Class-A Potomac on Tuesday, manager Davey Johnson told reporters Friday.

After that, it probably won't be long before he's back with the Nationals.

“Knowing Harp, I don't think he's going to need much [time on rehab assignment],” Johnson said (washingtontimes.com). “The main thing, it's not so much the timing as it is just seeing how he feels after playing, and how the knee reacts to being out there for nine innings.”

Still, no specific timetable has been given, but rehab assignments generally don't last too long -- and have a maximum of 30 days.

Harper, 20, is hitting .287/.386/.587 with 12 homers and 23 RBI in 44 games this season. He hasn't played since May 26 due to his current knee injury (bursitis), which stemmed from running into the wall in Dodger Stadium on May 13.
