The Reds have placed ace Johnny Cueto on the 15-day DL with a lat injury after he went for tests on Saturday, reports John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer. It is the right-hander's third lat-related DL stint of 2013.

Cueto, 27, was forced to leave Friday night's start in the second inning after aggravating his right lat. He originally felt it in the first inning but remained in the game. Cueto missed late April and most of May, then spent another two weeks on the shelf earlier this month. The right lat, which also gave him trouble in 2011, has been the culprit each time.

In nine starts around the injuries, Cueto has gone 4-2 with a 3.33 ERA. He finished fourth in the NL Cy Young Award voting last season after going 19-9 with a 2.78 ERA, his second consecutive season with a sub-3.00 ERA. In parts of six big-league seasons, all with Cincinnati, Cueto has gone 64-48 with a 3.56 ERA.

Left-hander Tony Cingrani will come out of the bullpen and move back into the rotation. The 23-year-old went 3-0 with a 3.15 ERA in seven starts filling in for Cueto earlier this year. He moved into the bullpen earlier this month and made five relief appearances, including four innings of long relief on Friday.

Right-handed reliever Logan Ondrusek has been recalled from the minors. The 28-year-old has a 5.64 ERA in 22 1/3 relief innings this year. He owns a 3.70 ERA in parts of four big-league seasons.
