Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman has a sore knee and hasn't played since Wednesday. By all accounts, he should be ready to return by Tuesday, so the injury itself isn't huge news. How he hurt the knee, however, is of interest.

Berkman told reporters Sunday he hurt the knee when he fell down the stairs of the Rangers charter flight Thursday, when the club returned home from New York (Star-Telegram.com).

Also funny is the vintage Berkman answer given to reporters:

Those who have been fortunate enough to interview Berkman in person -- myself included -- won't be surprised by that answer. He's a quote machine.

Berkman, 37, is hitting .263/.362/.392 with six homers and 34 RBI this season.
