Phillies right-hander Kyle Kendrick has been diagnosed with a mild concussion, the result of being accidently struck on the helmet on Sunday by a pitch from Stephen Fife of the Dodgers.

"You try to get out of the way," Kendrick said (CSN Philly). "There's nothing you can really do. Obviously, he didn't mean to and he said he was sorry. He apologized. You never want to see it happen to anybody."

The Phillies have yet to make a roster move, but a trip to the seven-day concussion DL is a possibility. Kendrick's next turn in the rotation is slated for Saturday. If he's unable to go, then the Phillies could recall Tyler Cloyd or Ethan Martin to start in Kendrick's place.

This season, the 28-year-old Kendrick has pitched to a 3.59 ERA (108 ERA+), 1.23 WHIP and 2.59 K/BB ratio in 17 starts.
