Given that Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera is the reigning AL MVP, reigning triple-crown winner and current leader in batted-ball distance, it's not exactly bold opinion-shaping to say that he often hits the ball rather hard. As the following image shows, however, there's hitting the ball hard, and then there's feloniously assaulting the poor thing ...

That's Mr. Cabrera's first-inning homer against the Indians on Sunday in the making, and that's a baseball that's being momentarily flattened. Egads, say those on "Masterpiece Theater."
