Braves right fielder Jason Heyward left Thursday night's game against the Reds with a strained right hamstring, the club announced. We don't yet know the severity of the injury, as the Braves only said he'll be re-evaluated Friday.

Heyward, 23, is hitting .227/.324/.371 with 13 doubles, seven homers, 21 RBI and 35 runs, a down year from his very productive 2012 campaign. He has, however, been much better in recent weeks.

Heyward missed almost a month earlier this season after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.

Reed Johnson replaced Heyward on Thursday and will be the player who sees the biggest uptick in playing time if Heyward has to miss any games.

The timing of the injury actually isn't that bad for Heyward or the Braves. The All-Star break begins after Sunday's game, so if Heyward needs to miss the next three games, he'd then have until Friday, July 19, before the Braves play again.
