All-Star Game Remember When: Moises Alou snaps the streak

The 1994 season is not fondly remembered, what with labor strife's snuffing out the World Series for the first time in 90 years. However, the '94 Midsummer Classic was not short on baseball dramatics.

Coming into the All-Star Game at Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Stadium, the National League had dropped six straight to the junior circuit and was, needless to say, spoiling for a win.

The game was a to-and-fro affair, as leads and ties were squandered multiple times over the course of 10 innings. In the bottom of the ninth, a Fred McGriff home run tied the score at 7-7 and sent it to extras. In the first bonus frame, Tony Gwynn of the Padres nudged his way off first base following a lead-off single as Moises Alou of the Expos stepped up to the plate.

Let's roll tape ...

As the last angle shows, Gwynn was indeed safe.

And this is also important ...

If I'm not mistaken, Barry Bonds is wearing the Technicolor Dreamcoat paired with a jumpsuit chosen from the Hawk Harrelson Gentleman's Choice CollectionTM.

In any event, well done, Messrs. Gwynn and Alou!
