Here are your starting pitchers for Tuesday night's All-Star Game at Citi Field: Matt Harvey of the Mets for the National League and Max Scherzer of the Tigers for the American League.

NL manager Bruce Bochy and AL manager Jim Leyland announced their decisions Monday.

Neither choice is especially surprising. Harvey, in addition to pitching for the host Mets, has put up some impressive numbers in this, his age-24 season: 7-2, 2.35 ERA, NL-leading 147 strikeouts, 27 unintentional walks, no unearned runs allowed. Harvey has also notched a quality start in 15 of 19 outings.

Harvey's competition for the starting nod was thinned out when Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals started on Sunday, which in essence eliminated him from the running. A compelling case can also be made for the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw, who has a lower ERA than Harvey and also bests him in innings (145 1/3 to 130 for Harvey).

As for Harvey's opposite number, Scherzer this season has gone 13-1 and pitched to a 3.19 ERA (135 ERA+), 0.98 WHIP and 4.90 K/BB ratio. As well, Scherzer ranks second to only Yu Darvish in strikeouts as a percentage of opposing plate appearances.

Other AL worthies who would also be able to start from a logistical standpoint include Felix Hernandez of the Mariners (AL-leading 2.53 ERA, AL-leading 138 2/3 IP, 5.38 K/BB ratio) and Chris Sale of the White Sox (2.85 ERA, 150 ERA+, 131 strikeouts in 120 IP).
