VIDEO: Mariano Rivera's All-Star farewell

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

NEW YORK -- The greatest closer in baseball history appeared in his ninth and final All-Star Game on Tuesday night. In a game otherwise lacking monomental moments, Yankees closer Mariano Rivera came away with the MVP, his first of the type.

Not only that, he was given an incredible show of respect from his fellow All-Stars with a standing ovation. It was a truly special moment during the 2013 Midsummer Classic.

Here's the footage:

Rivera is a 13-time All-Star, but he only appeared in the game nine times, working a total of nine innings. He never allowed a run in the event, meaning he obviously sports a 0.00 ERA in All-Star Games. He only gave up five hits without walking anyone, so his WHIP sits at a tidy 0.56.

In all, just like his regular-season and postseason career, Rivera was dominant in All-Star Games. How fitting.
