The second-place Indians are soon to get a boost in their starting rotation, because manager Terry Francona told reporters (including Paul Hoynes) Saturday that right-hander Zach McAllister will get the ball Tuesday against the Mariners.

McAllister, 25, has been on the disabled list since June 8 with a sprained middle finger on his pitching hand, but he threw six scoreless innings during a rehab start for Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, and that must've convinced the Indians he's ready for a return.

McAllister is 4-5 with a 3.43 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 45 strikeouts in 65 2/3 innings this season. Six of his 11 starts have been statistically quality starts.

Carlos Carrasco and Trevor Bauer have been pretty bad in McAllister's absence, and though Danny Salazar had a good start July 11, getting McAllister back definitely strengthens the back end of Cleveland's rotation.
