The Mets have placed third baseman David Wright on the 15-day DL with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, the team announced. He is expected to miss 3-5 weeks. Outfielder Mike Baxter was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill the roster spot.

Wright, 30, left Friday night's game after beating out an infield single in the 10th inning. An MRI on Saturday morning confimed the diagnosis. It is only the third DL stint of Wright's 10-year career. He suffered a concussion on a hit-by-pitch in 2009 and had a stress fracture in his back in 2011.

In 105 games before the injury, Wright hit .309/.391/.512 (154 OPS+) with 16 home runs and 17 stolen bases. He hit his 220th career homer on Friday, tying him with Mike Piazza for the second most in team history. Darryl Strawberry is the franchise leader with 252 career dingers.

Baxter, 28, hit .212/.333/.282 (77 OPS+) in 47 games with the Mets earlier this year and has hit .275/.374/.490 in 42 Triple-A games. The left-handed hitter has a .245/.354/.379 (105 OPS+) in parts of three seasons with the Amazin's.
