Royals All-Star catcher Salvador Perez has been placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list with what the club has called a low-grade concussion.

Perez, 23, is hitting .278/.309/.382 with 19 doubles, four homers and 43 RBI this season. He's also developing a great reputation for his defense and how well he works with the Royals' pitching staff, so this is a big blow to the red-hot Royals, who had won 10 of 11 heading into Sunday.

Backup catcher George Kottaras is in the lineup Sunday in Perez's stead and will obviously get the majority of the starts with Perez out.
