Diamondbacks outfielder Cody Ross had to be carted off the field Sunday after he dislocated his right hip.

Ross was running to first base on a routine grounder when he stumbled, fell and immediately started grabbing his right leg in obvious pain. Mets first baseman Ike Davis leaned over to ask Ross if he was OK and then immediately started motioning for help.

Martin Prado was moved to the left field spot vacated by Ross and rookie Matt Davidson entered the game -- his big-league debut.

Ross, 32, is hitting .278/.331/.413 with eight homers and 38 RBI in 351 plate appearances this season.

There's been no timetable given by the D-Backs yet, but obviously a dislocated hip means Ross will miss some time.

The absence of Ross will likely clear the way for a good amount of playing time for Davidson. The 22 year old entered the season as a consensus top 100 prospect. He hit .278/.348/.484 with 31 doubles, 16 homers and 68 RBI in 108 games for Triple-A Reno. He collected his first major-league hit in his second at-bat Sunday.
