The very brief and very minor-league Rangers career of veteran slugger Manny Ramirez has come to an end. MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports that the Rangers have released Ramirez.

“Based on our evaluation, there was not a spot for manny on the club at this time,” Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said. “We released him so he could pursue other opportunities if he so chooses.”

Ramirez, age 41, batted an unimpressive .259/.328/.370 in 119 plate appearances for Triple-A Round Rock. Earlier this season, he put up strong numbers in the Taiwanese major leagues.

Across parts of 19 MLB seasons, Ramirez has to his credit 555 homers; 2,574 hits; 4,826 total bases; and an OPS+ of 154.
