MLive.com reports that former major-league ballplayer Chad Curtis has been found guilty of sexually assaulting three teen girls in Michigan. He now faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

Curtis was originally charged with six counts of sexual assault -- charges that stemmed from his time as a weight-room coach and substitute teacher at a Lakewood, Mich. high school. MLive.com's John Tunison writes that "two 15-year-old students accused [Curtis] of inappropriately touching their buttocks and a 16-year-old said he touched her private areas and fondled and kissed her breasts."

According to the AP, Curtis will be sentenced on Sept. 26.

“We give these young ladies so much credit for their courage,” Barry County (Mich.) Prosecutor Julie Nakfoor-Pratt told MLive.com after the verdict. “It took a lot of courage to testify. This has been such a long road for them. This is a step in the healing process for them.”

Curtis, 44, spent parts of 10 major-league seasons with the Angels, Yankees, Rangers, Tigers, Dodgers and Indians.
