Braves outfielder Jason Heyward was hit by a 90 mph Jonathan Niese fastball in the side of the face on Wednesday afternoon. The pitch left him with a broken right jaw, and now, reports MLB.com's Mark Bowman, he could miss the next four to six weeks. Potentially, Heyward could be done for the remainder of the regular season.

Despite the Mets-Braves rivalry, it's clear the plunking was unintentional.

In 94 games prior to Wednesday, the 24-year-old Heyward was hitting .254/.348/.426 (110 OPS+) with 13 home runs. He missed more than three weeks following an appendectomy early this season as well as a few games with a hamstring problem last month.
