In the second inning of Wednesday's Blue Jays-Yankees game, infielder Jayson Nix took an R.A. Dickey pitch off his hand and soon after was removed from the game. X-rays on Nix's left hand later revealed a fracture. As such, Nix will miss the next several weeks and quite possibly the remainder of the 2013 season.

This season, the 30-year-old Nix is batting .236/.305/.311 with 13 stolen bases in 14 attempts. He's also seen duty at three different infield positions: short, second and third.

With Derek Jeter just having begun a minor-league rehab assignment, the loss of Nix is certainly a blow to the Yankees' infield depth.
