Yankees manager Joe Girardi says that shortstop Derek Jeter, barring setback, will rejoin the active roster in time for Monday's game against the Blue Jays in Toronto, reports the AP.

Jeter has been sidelined since Aug. 2 because of a strained right calf and is presently on rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Jeter didn't make his 2013 debut until July 11 as a result of the broken ankle he suffered during the 2012 ALCS.

This season, the 39-year-old Jeter is batting .211/.286/.368 in 21 plate appearances. He's coming off a 2012 season in which he led the majors in hits. Speaking of hits, Jeter -- with 3,308 to his credit -- needs just seven more to tie Eddie Collins in 10th place on the all-time list.
