Police investigating AT&T Park home run ball incident

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

A 16-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted and robbed of a home run ball he grabbed last Wednesday and police are investigating, the San Francisco Examiner reported.

Right after the victim took possession of the baseball, the suspect allegedly tackled him from behind, twisted his wrist, then pried the ball away and fled, [police officer Albie] Esparza said.

The victim complained of wrist pain and was treated at the ballpark.

The only footage police have to go on is this MLB.com video:

Notice around the 40-second mark the kid wearing the Dustin Pedroia jersey go down to get the ball. That's the alleged victim. Around the 47-second mark, a bald head can be seen emerging from the scrum. That's the alleged perpetrator. Given that this is the only footage, the best guess is Mr. Tough Guy gets away with it.

Finally, a message to all adults who would do this in order to get a baseball: Get a life.
