Catcher Yadier Molina is day to day with soreness in his left wrist after leaving Monday afternoon's game, the Cardinals announced. He has been dealing with nagging soreness since the World Baseball Classic this spring.

Molina, 31, exited the game in the fifth inning. He missed a little more than two weeks with a right knee sprain earlier this season but otherwise has not been on the DL since 2007. Molina has been one of the game's best and most durable backstops.

In 112 games coming into Monday, Molina was hitting .329/.367/.488 (136 OPS+) with 10 home runs. He has also thrown out 15 of 35 attempted base-stealers (43 percent). Molina is a legitimate MVP candidate whose chances of winning the award are tied to whether the Cardinals win the NL Central.
