Rangers right-handed pitcher Alexi Ogando has been on the shelf since Aug. 13 due to right shoulder inflammation, but he has been activated, the club announced Tuesday night.

While there was no initial word from the team on whether or not Ogando will rejoin the rotation, he seems a pretty good bet to replace Travis Blackley -- giving the Rangers a pretty stout rotation of Yu Darvish, Derek Holland, Matt Garza, Martin Perez and Ogando.

Ogando, 29, is 5-4 with a 3.47 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 54 strikeouts in 80 1/3 innings this season. All 15 of his appearances have been starts, but he was an effective reliever last season, so there's a chance he'll join the already-stacked bullpen.

The Rangers enter Tuesday night in a first-place tie with the Athletics in the AL West.
