The Blue Jays have announced that outfielder Jose Bautista has been shut down for the remainder of the 2013 season because of bone bruise on his femur. The hope is that Bautista will be fully healthy by spring training 2014.

That means Bautista's season ends with the following numbers: .259/.358/.498 (132 OPS+), 28 homers, 117 hits, 67 unintentional walks, 225 total bases, 118 games played. He's hit 152 of his 211 career home runs since the start of the 2010 season.

Bautista will be entering his age-33 season in 2014. He's signed through 2015 with a $14-million team option for 2016.
