The Oakland Athletics announced Thursday that catcher Derek Norris has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list. He hasn't played since Aug. 20 due to a fractured left big toe.

Norris, 24, is hitting .234/.338/.393 (107 OPS+) with 12 doubles eight homers and 26 RBI in 264 plate appearances this season. During a three-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento, Norris went 6-for-14 (.429) with two homers, so his bat is certainly ready. He caught two of the three games and served as designated hitter in the other.

With John Jaso on the concussion disabled list, the A's now have three available catching options -- as Norris joins Kurt Suzuki and Stephen Vogt.

The A's head into Thursday night tied atop the AL West with the Rangers.
