Ryan Braun, who is serving a 65-game suspension for his ties to performance-enhancing drugs, is calling Brewers season ticket holders one by one to personally apologize, reports Chris Patterson of CBS 58 in Milwaukee.

Braun, 29, effectively admitted to using PEDs last month by saying he was "deeply ashamed" for making "serious mistakes" in a letter to fans. He has not yet made a statement on camera or held any kind of formal press conference. The suspension covers the rest of the season, so he can return on opening day 2014.

The Brewers launched a series of fan appreciate initiatives following the announcement of Braun's suspension. Fans who attended home games in August received a $10 voucher good for food, merchandise and tickets at Miller Park. Obviously getting a phone call from Braun himself is a bit more personal.

Braun, who successfully appealed a PED suspension during the 2011-12 offseason, is under contract for $117 million through the end of the 2020 season.
