In the confines of the standings, the Yankees had a good night on Tuesday. They mounted a comeback win against the Orioles, and Rays, whom the Yankees are chasing for the second AL wild-card berth, fell to Boston. However, in the course of beating Baltimore, the Yankees, true to form in 2013, got banged up.

To wit, Alex Rodriguez, who exited the game after sliding into home in the eighth, suffered tightness in his left hamstring, but manager Joe Girardi says he may be able to DH on Wednesday (source: Bryan Hoch via Twitter). Approval ratings aside, A-Rod has been quite valuable to the Yankees since his return from hip surgery, as he's batted .301/.388/.496 in 129 plate appearances this season.

Elsewhere, Tuesday night's starter Ivan Nova (3.17 ERA on the season) was forced to exit after six innings when he experienced tightness in his triceps. While Nova has previously been limited by triceps problems, Girardi, in the words of Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News, "[didn't] seem overly concerned" after the game.

Finally, catcher Austin Romine, who exited after taking a foul ball off the mask, likely has a concussion, Girardi says (source: Andy McCullough via Twitter). If that's the case, then Romine, who's hitting .207/.255/.296 on the season, will at the very least be placed on the 7-day concussion DL.
