Happy Anniversary: Griffey family goes back-to-back

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer

Only once in major-league history has a father-son combo hit back-to-back home runs, and it happened exactly 23 years ago Saturday.

It was Sept. 14, 1990 when Ken Griffey homered and his son -- yes, Ken Griffey Jr. -- followed suit. Here it is:

The duo would combine for 782 career home runs (152 for father, 630 for son), trailing only Barry and Bobby Bonds in home runs by a father-son combo in baseball history. The Griffeys remain the only father-son duo to homer in the same game, however, and they did it consecutively.
